The iBioFAB Team
Huimin Zhao (zhao5@illinois.edu)
Steven L. Miller Chair Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering
Stephan Lane (stlane2@illinois.edu)
Manager
Stephan Lane gained a background in molecular and synthetic biology before moving into automation. He manages the day-to-day operations of the iBioFAB, contributes to system upgrades, and develops fully-automated workflows. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, being outdoors, and spending time with his wife and daughter.
Nilmani Singh (nsingh16@illinois.edu)
Automation Engineer
Nilmani Singh did his PhD in Cell and Developmental biology from UIUC. In his PhD, he studied protein-lipid interactions employing a diverse array of biophysical & biochemical techniques and mathematical modeling. At iBioFAB, he works to develop automated workflows for various tools and technique in protein engineering, metabolic engineering, and synthetic biology. Outside of the lab, he loves to play badminton and improve his cooking skills.
Vassily Petrov (vassily2@illinois.edu)
Software Developer
Vassily Petrov aims to develop software that is highly accessible in the laboratory context, and create tools that empower researchers' workflow. In his spare time, he enjoys cycling and collecting motorized single-wheel vehicles.
