The Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology (IGB) offers several services for non-university research for customers, such as individuals, other institutions and commercial entities.
The University of Illinois requires all non-university researchers to sign either a Facility Use Agreement (FUA) or Technical Testing Agreement (TTA).
- FUA's are agreements where the IGB Core provides access to facilities, instrument(s) and/or other resources to customers for their research and/or development purposes. The Core offers in-person access as well as remote access.
- TTA's are agreements where the IGB Core provides testing and analysis services utilizing Core facilities and instrument(s) for customers.
Quote
We are happy to provide a quote. Let us know the instrument(s) you plan to use and the anticipated length of time. The quote is an estimated amount. We bill based on actual usage.
Once you have completed the Facilities Use Form, you will need to complete several items to obtain access to the Core facilities and instrument(s).

If you are working on campus, you will need a netID. You will need to fill out this NetID Request form: https://identity.uillinois.edu/affilFrontEnd/
You can select UIUC, Institute for Genomic Biology, and “affiliate-researcher” and put gfried@illinois.edu for your sponsor. Email Glenn at gfried@illinois.edu when you start this step. This can take a week to complete. You may need to pick up an ID card from the University bookstore to access instruments after hours.
Safety Training
You will need to login using your net ID and take the following safety training. You will need to upload the training certificates to IGB Connect.
