Kleinmuntz Center Proof-of-Concept Program Application
The
Catherine and Don Kleinmuntz Center for Genomics in Business and Society (Kleinmuntz Center)
is committed
to supporting innovation taking place here at the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology.
As a result, the Kleinmuntz Center is calling for applications for their first pre-commercialization Proof-of-Concept (POC) program which will award one to two “Mikashi Awards" of $50,000-$75,000 per year for up to two years.

Mikashi Awards
aim to fund IGB projects that demonstrate market viability to help projects succeed.
Application submissions have been extended through July 30, 2021.

are open to all Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology faculty and affiliates.
Application and Review Process:
1) Proposal Submission & Application Form
Submit a three to five-page proposal including a project description, a proposed budget (
template available here
), and a detailed timeline with major milestones indicated. Documents should be submitted using the form below.
2) Proposal Review
An external committee will review all proposals and evaluate each project's perceived ability to successfully prepare for commercialization within the scope of the project, the requested budget, and the proposed time frame.
3) Awards Announced
Awards will be announced directly to faculty, as well as in a public announcement late September, 2021.
