22: Potable Water

Laboratory water in most lab buildings including the IGB is on a separate system from the drinking (potable) water. This is arranged so that the drinking water cannot be accidentally contaminated by lab equipment that could force contamination back into the water line.

Likewise, lab ice machines are not on drinking water lines.

Water for drinking or making coffee and ice for human consumption needs to be taken from sinks and refrigerators in non-laboratory areas.
